“Am I a gentrifier? Is it bad? Should I care?” What people don’t seem to realize is it isn’t the mere act of moving into a neighborhood that makes you a gentrifier; it’s what you do once you get there….
Maybe ask one of us what we think about putting in a bunch of high-end markets and pricey boutiques. While you all are dining out at fancy restaurants, some of us are struggling to find a cheap meal.
So I’ve put together a few how-to’s for avoiding the gentrifier label in Oakland…

Almost half of England’s cemeteries could run out of space within 20 years, and a quarter of 358 local authorities responding to a recent BBC survey said that they would have no more room for burials within a decade.
Woodland Burials plants a tree at each grave, creating a woodland, a wildlife sanctuary and a nature reserve.
….Perpetuity, rather than a lease applies in each case. The approach helps to overcome the shortage of grave space, and planting trees reduces some environmental problems. And the beautiful woodland setting makes a far more tranquil and pleasant place for reflection than a traditional, and increasingly crowded, cemetery.
